The Importance of Being Earnest

The Importance of Being Earnest on a cream background with the silhouette of a man and a woman either side of the text and the gates and garden of an English country house below

By Oscar Wilde

Director: Kimberly Mohne Hill

Louis B. Mayer Theatre

November 6 – 15, 2026

Oscar Wilde’s most famous and enduring play uses farce, satire, words and wit to delight us with the ridiculousness of the Victorian upper class. With romance, false identities, a mystery and some of the most recognizable lines in the theatre canon, Wilde’s play continues to relate to our contemporary society where “fake” and “true” (earnest) are constantly called into question.
